The invention relates to a unit for seat occupancy detection of a vehicle seat with at least one switch unit, which comprises a housing with an upper housing part and a lower housing part and at least one switching element arranged in the housing, which is actuatable by a triggering element arranged on one of the housing parts, wherein the housing halves are movable relative to one another and are held at a distance from one another by a spring in an initial position such that the triggering element does not actuate the switching element, and that the housing halves, starting from this initial position, can be displaced relative to one another against the spring force of the spring such that the triggering element actuates the switching element. The switching element comprises at least one microswitch.
