The invention relates to a head-up display (1) with a projection screen (3) and a device (2) for movement and positioning of the projection screen (3). According to the invention, for extending or retracting the projection screen (3) by means of the device (2), a linear movement with a small travel distance can be transformed into a pivoting movement with a large travel distance, wherein in the operating position of the projection screen (3), an inclination adjustment of the projection screen (3) can be actuated by means of the device (2). Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for operating a head-up display (1) with a projection screen (3) and a device (2) for movement and positioning of a projection screen (3).
