[Problem] To detect a malfunction in a braking force detecting means such as a master oil pressure sensor, without the use of a longitudinal acceleration sensor. [Solution] A braking force detecting means detects the braking force of a vehicle or a value by which the braking force can be calculated. A steering torque sensor (16) detects the steering torque of a steering wheel. A lateral acceleration sensor (42) detects the lateral acceleration of a vehicle body. A braking-in-a-turn determination unit (102) determines whether or not the vehicle is braking in a turn. A malfunction detection unit (106) determines the braking force detecting means to be malfunctioning on the basis of the steering torque and lateral acceleration when the vehicle is determined to be braking in a turn.
