Distributed compressed air system for railway vehicle and corresponding method

A compressed air system (10) for a railway vehicle, comprising a main reservoir pipe (MRP) adapted to supply compressed air to pneumatic equipment of the railway vehicle, at least two, and preferably six , compressed air generating units (12) fluidly connected to the main reservoir pipe (MRP), and a controller (16) adapted to control said compressed air generating units (12), characterised in that each compressed air generating unit (12) is adapted to supply compressed air to the main reservoir pipe (MRP).
