A pneumatic tire having: a carcass including a ply main body and respective wound-up portions; and a recessed portion formed at a tire outer surface, is characterized in that: the maximum width W 6 of the carcass is 120 % to 135 % of a distance W 8 between a pair of bead heals, and the outermost end P 2 in the tire width direction of the carcass is disposed within a region defined in the tire radial direction between a position corresponding to 45 % of the carcass height H and a position corresponding to 60 % of the carcass height in the tire-rim assembled state; and, provided that R represents a radius of curvature of the carcass at the outermost end in the tire width direction of the carcass, R/H ¥ 0.45 in the tire-rim assembled state at the normal maximum internal pressure with no load.
