POWER ADAPTER FOR CHARGING A RECHARGEABLE DEVICE

A power adapter device (1600) for charging a rechargeable device having a USB-C port (1651) and a processor (1652) and a power management unit (1653) and a battery (1654), the power adapter device comprising: an input port (1601) for receiving input power; a USB-C connector (1603) connectable to said USB-C port for providing output power; an electrical circuit (1602) between the input port and the USB-C connector for providing a voltage signal; a controller (1604) for communicating with the processor (1652) of the rechargeable device using a predefined protocol; wherein the power adapter device has a first mode of operation for offering first power capabilities, and a second mode of operation for offering reduced power capabilities.
