Method of operation of an adaptive cruise control (2) of a motor vehicle (1), the adaptive cruise control (2) making it possible to regulate the speed of the motor vehicle (1) as a function of the movement of a target vehicle preceding the motor vehicle (1), the method comprising the following steps:- during the running of the motor vehicle (1), detection of at least one deactivation event of the adaptive cruise control (2) due to a user of the vehicle,- automatic analysis of this at least one event, and- as a consequence of the analysis, automatic modification of an operating parameter of the adaptive cruise control (2).
