A main flow path (50) through the ion exchanger cartridge (10) is provided, for the medium, between the one or more inflow ports (34) and the one or more outflow ports (18). The housing (102) further comprises a bypass channel (116) between the inflow opening (104) and the outflow opening (106), for the medium bypassing the ion exchanger cartridge (10). The ion exchanger cartridge (10) further comprises a closure element (40) configured to close the bypass channel (116) when the ion exchanger cartridge (10) is mounted in an intended mounting position to the housing (102).",
