The invention relates to an electrical energy storage unit (1), comprising first (11) and second (12) electrical terminals, an accumulator (13) electrically coupled to the first and second terminals, and a protection system (14) of the short-circuit type, the latter comprising: a first electrical conductive element (141) coupled to the first terminal, a second electrical conductive element (142) coupled to the second terminal, and an elastic electrical conductive member (1421) coupled to the second element, characterized in that the protection system comprises a third thermally deformable electrical insulating element (143), the latter being configured to occupy a first state in which the third element electrically isolates the elastic member from the first element, and to occupy a second state, in which the third element deforms so that the elastic member comes into contact with the first element.
