"textContent": "The invention relates to methods and devices for minimizing a corrosion-hazardous DC protective conductor current for a direct current system grounded via a protective conductor designed as a foundation earth electrode with connected Class 1 equipment. Balancing methods describe feeding a balancing current at an earth connection point on a housing of the Class 1 equipment via an output circuit between a non-faulted active conductor and the earth connection point, wherein adjustment of a balancing current polarity and a balancing current amplitude of the balancing current is performed such that the DC protective conductor current in the foundation earth electrode is minimized. In contrast to this direct current balancing, in direct current compensation a compensation current is fed at the earth connection point of the Class 1 equipment housing via an output circuit that extends between the faulted active conductor and the earth connection point. The compensation current is adjusted with respect to polarity and amplitude such that the DC protective conductor current in the foundation earth electrode is minimized. The adjustment of the balancing current and the compensation current is performed via controlled or regulated switching of current sources, resistors, or a PWM signal.",
