The pouch-type rechargeable lithium battery includes an electrode assembly including a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate, and a separator interposed between the first electrode plate and the second electrode plate; and an electrolyte into which the electrode assembly is impregnated, wherein the separator includes a porous substrate and a coating layer disposed on at least one surface of the porous substrate. The coating layer includes a binder and a filler. The binder includes a (meth)acrylic binder including a first structural unit derived from (meth)acrylic acid, (meth)acrylate, or a salt thereof, a second structural unit derived from a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, and a third structural unit derived from (meth)acrylamidosulfonic acid or a salt thereof. The electrolyte has an ethyl propionate content in a range of 10% by volume to 40% by volume in a non-aqueous organic solvent.",
