A cathode active material for a secondary battery includes lithium metal oxide particles. A difference between a maximum particle diameter (Dmax) and an average particle diameter (D50) of the lithium metal oxide particles is in a range from 5 µm to 12 µm. D10 of the lithium metal oxide particles is greater than 1.8 µm and less than 3 µm. D10 and D50 are particle diameter values at 10% and 50% of a cumulative volume of the lithium metal oxide particles, respectively, from analysis results of a volume cumulative particle size distribution of the lithium metal oxide particles by a laser diffraction method.
