A cathode active material precursor for a lithium secondary battery according to embodiments of the present disclosure includes first cathode active material precursor particles, each comprising a core portion and a shell portion, the core portion and the shell portion each comprising one or more transition metals including nickel, and second cathode active material precursor particles comprising one or more transition metals including nickel. A molar fraction of nickel among the transition metals of the second cathode active material precursor particles is uniform throughout the entirety of each of the the second cathode active material precursor particles. A median particle diameter (D50) of the core portion of the first cathode active material precursors particles is greater than a median particle diameter (D50) of the second cathode active material precursor particles.
