APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MANAGING BATTERY

A battery management apparatus according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a voltage obtaining unit configured to obtain an open circuit voltage of the battery; a profile obtaining unit configured to obtain a differential profile representing a corresponding relationship between a differential capacity and a voltage of a battery; and a control unit configured to determine a voltage pattern of the battery based on the open circuit voltage and pre-stored voltage history, determine a plurality of peaks in the differential profile when the determined voltage pattern is a predetermined pattern, determine a negative electrode peak and a positive electrode peak among the determined plurality of peaks, and diagnose a state of the battery by comparing a change rate of the negative electrode peak with respect to a preset reference negative electrode peak and a change rate of the positive electrode peak with respect to a preset reference positive electrode peak.
