In a mobile work machine with a mechanical brake and an electrical auxiliary brake that are operated via a brake actuation device (9), wherein a braking force and/or a brake signal for the mechanical brake is generated by an actuation force exerted by a person, force sensor means detect the actuation force exerted on an operating surface of the brake actuation device (9) and the electrical auxiliary brake is controlled by a control signal that is dependent on the actuation force.
