A single cell module of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell and a polymer electrolyte fuel cell with enhanced gas sealing performance and durability. In a single cell module having separators and an electrolyte membrane structure sandwiched by the separators, the electrolyte membrane structure has a configuration in which the electrolyte membrane is integrated with frame members by welding, and sealing members are provided on the power generation region side relative to a fusion welding part, whereby deformation of the electrolyte membrane in a region of the sealing member that ensures gas sealing performance can be prevented, and gas sealing performance and durability can be ensured.
