Control device for a vehicle

A control device (50) suitable for use in a vehicle includes a circuit board (53) and a spring element (54). The circuit board includes a circuit element (60) electrically connected there at. The spring element is engaged with the circuit element and biased to exert a force at the circuit element in a direction generally parallel to a surface of the circuit board. The circuit element is electrically connected at the circuit board via a solder joint. When a temperature at the solder joint exceeds a threshold temperature, the spring element (54) moves the circuit element (60) along the surface of the circuit board (53) to break the electrical connection at the solder joint.
