The invention relates to an automation device with sink modules (9, 10, 11, ... N) connected to a supply line (P1, P2) and with at least two source modules (4, 5, 6) connected in parallel for supplying the sink modules (9, 10, 11, ... N) with electrical energy, wherein each of the at least two source modules is provided for applying an output voltage to the supply line (P1, P2), and wherein furthermore the at least two source modules (4, 5, 6) have means for balancing a percentage utilization degree (L) related to a rated power of the respective source module (4, 5, 6), and one of the at least two source modules (4, 5, 6) is provided for higher power output and the other of the at least two source modules (4, 5, 6) is provided for lower power output. Measures are proposed by means of which, during the start-up of the automation device, a collapse of the supply voltage due to a load surge is largely avoided.
