A power transmitting apparatus (100, 150) is provided with a first coil (105) and is configured to transmit electric power in a wireless manner to a second coil (204) disposed opposite to and at a distance from the first coil. The power transmitting apparatus is provided with: a first conversion circuit unit (103) configured to convert direct current voltage inputted to the power transmitting apparatus to alternating current voltage; a first capacitor unit (104) electrically connected in series with the first coil; a second capacitor unit (105) electrically connected in parallel with the first coil; and a control unit (120) configured to control electrical characteristics of the second capacitor unit on the basis of electrical characteristics of the first conversion circuit unit.
