The airbag arrangement comprises an oblong airbag (25) with a woven structure, an inflator in fluid communication with the airbag (25) and mounting elements (40, 40') holding the airbag on at least one structural element of the passenger car outside the passenger compartment. The airbag (25) is located on the at least one structural element of the passenger car in such a way that the effective length or the effective width of the passenger car increases when the airbag (25) is filled with gas and the airbag (25) thus expands in its radial direction and thus enlarges the outer dimensions of the passenger car. Further an airbag device that is particularly suitable for such a passenger car is described. The airbag (25) of this airbag device is made from a hose with initially open ends that are closed by closing seams. The end sections of the airbag (25) are located inside sleeve blocks (30, 30').",
