"textContent": "The invention relates to a laser tracker (1) for determining the position of a measuring aid instrument (80) that has a retroreflector (81) and a plurality of target markings (82), as well as for continuously tracking the measuring aid instrument (80), wherein the target markings (82) are arranged in a known fixed spatial distribution on the measuring aid instrument (80) and are configured to emit or reflect light beams (42), and wherein the laser tracker (1) comprises a first beam source (35) for generating measurement radiation (30), a distance measurement module (38) with distance measurement functionality and a target detection unit (40) for determining an impact point (43) of radiation (31) reflected by the retroreflector (81) on a sensor (45) of the target detection unit (40) and for generating an output signal for controlling a fine aiming functionality and a target tracking functionality, characterized in that the target detection unit (40) is configured to determine impact points (44) of light beams (42) reflected or emitted by a plurality of target markings (82) of the measuring aid instrument (80) on the sensor (45), and to determine the spatial orientation of the measuring aid instrument (80) based on the distribution of the impact points (44) of the light beams (42). The invention further relates to a laser tracker system and a method for determining the position of the measuring aid instrument (80) by means of the laser tracker (1).",
