Fluorinated carbonates as solvent for lithium sulfonimide-based electrolytes

The present invention relates to an electrolyte solution comprising an electrolyte salt and an electrolyte solvent, wherein the electrolyte solvent comprises an n-fluoro diethyl carbonate according to formula (1) as follows: C 2 H 5-x F x CO 3 C 2 H 5 - y F y (1) wherein 1 ‰¤ x ‰¤ 5 and 0 ‰¤ y ‰¤ 5 in an amount in the range of ‰¥ 20 wt% to ‰¤ 100 wt%, referring to a total amount of the electrolyte solvent of 100 wt%, and the use of such n-fluoro diethyl carbonate for the prevention of aluminum current collector corrosion in an alkali or alkaline earth metal-based electrochemical energy storage device, particularly in a lithium-ion battery or lithium polymer battery containing an electrolyte solution comprising an alkali or alkaline earth metal sulfonimide or sulfonmethide salt.
