The invention relates to a remote optical device with at least one observation beam path and with a device for laser distance measurement, which has at least one transmission device with a transmission beam path and at least one receiving device with a reception beam path, as well as an image display unit. The transmission beam path of the transmission device and/or the reception beam path of the receiving device are combined via at least one optical carrier element for superposition with the at least one observation beam path. The image display unit generates the light of an image to be displayed and also directs this via the at least one optical carrier element for superposition with the at least one observation beam path. Furthermore, at least one diffractive optical coupling element is arranged on the optical carrier element, in particular for beam shaping and/or beam guidance in the transmission beam path and/or in the reception beam path.
