A rotatable component (14) includes a sealing surface (17). The fluid transfer seal assembly (18) comprises a face seal ring (20) having at least one segment of a fluid passageway and a sealing face (28) configured to be disposed opposite of the sealing surface (17). The sealing face or the opposed sealing surface includes a geometric feature for forming a hydrodynamic seal therebetween.
