"textContent": "Geodetic surveying method comprising deriving surface information for an object (20) and performing a geodetically accurate individual point measurement to at least one reference point (25-27), wherein the at least one reference point (25-27) provides a positional reference to an external coordinate system, measurement radiation (3,33) is directed toward the at least one reference point (25-27) and at least one direction to the reference point (25-27) is determined in an internal coordinate system. A reference point-independent scanning to derive the surface information is performed, comprising scanning a scan area by continuous adjustment of the direction of the measurement radiation (3,33), determining a respective distance and a respective direction of the measurement radiation (3,33) emitted for distance measurement for scan points lying within the determined scan area, and generating a point cloud representing the surface information and comprising the scan points in the internal coordinate system. Furthermore, referencing of the internal coordinate system relative to the external coordinate system is performed based at least on the positional reference to the external coordinate system provided by the reference point (25-27) and the determined direction to the reference point (25-27) in the internal coordinate system, such that at least one orientation of the point cloud in the external coordinate system is determined.",
