The invention relates to a rear fender support structure for a saddle type vehicle which makes it possible to contrive a reduction in the weight of a rear fender while adopting a configuration wherein a battery is disposed rearwardly of a storage box. The rear fender support structure for the saddle type vehicle includes: seat rails 14 which form a rear portion of a body frame and support a seat either directly or indirectly; a rear fender 69 covering at least the upper side of a rear wheel WR; and a battery 151 disposed on the upper side of the rear fender 69. The rear fender support structure for the saddle type vehicle includes a battery stay which covers at least a part of the battery 151 and holds the battery 151. The battery stay is fixed to the seat rails 14.
