A projector device includes: a plurality of laser light sources (103 through 105) each of which output light of a different color component; a control unit that controls the intensity of the light output by each of the laser light sources (103 through 105); a display control unit (110) that projects an image on a combiner (60) by guiding the light output by each of the laser light sources (103 through 105) to the combiner (60); and a prediction unit that predicts which laser light source among the laser light sources (103 through 105) has the shortest remaining life, wherein the control unit reduces the intensity of the light output by the laser light source predicted to have the shortest remaining life to below a predetermined normal intensity.
