Hydraulic pump start system and method

A hydraulic motor pump (224) is powered from a main bus (230) when power is available from the main bus (230), from an auxiliary power unit starter motor controller (202) during a start-up of the hydraulic motor pump (224) when power from the main bus (230) is unavailable, and from a generator (242) different than the auxiliary power unit (204) subsequent to starting-up the hydraulic motor pump (224).
