A method for automatic navigation and parking of a vehicle () in a tight parking space using a navigation system () is provided. The method includes identifying a vacant slot (C) in a designated area () and stopping the vehicle () at a current position () within the designated area () upon identifying the vacant slot (C). The method further includes determining a linear distance by which the vehicle () has to initially move from the current position () to a start point () for ultimately reaching a destination point () within the vacant slot (C) via a middle point () and a tangential point (). The navigation system () determines the linear distance based on a horizontal distance between the tangential point () and a collinear point () and one or more coordinates of the tangential point (), the start point (), and the current position ().
