Multifunctional lighting and/or signalling system

The system (10) has a laser diode (14) emitting a laser radiation (L). A scanning system (18) receives and distributes the radiation to a wavelength conversion device (20). An optical imaging system (22) receives a re-emitted laser radiation (B) to form a light beam (FL). The conversion device includes a substrate (26) covered by phosphor material layers (30, 32). A control unit (17) controls the scanning system to form a scanned surface (24) by including phosphor material layers according to a selection parameter, where the system performs two different lighting and/or signaling functions. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a lighting and/or signaling system for a car.
