Solution polymerization prepared styrene/butadiene elastomer containing liquid styrene/butadiene polymer and tire with component

A method of preparing an organic solvent solution polymerization-prepared high molecular weight styrene/butadiene elastomer (H-SSBR) extended with a liquid styrene/butadiene polymer (LSBP) is disclosed which comprises, based on parts by weight per 100 parts by weight H-SSBR (phr): (A) providing a cement comprising 100 parts by weight of a high molecular weight styrene/butadiene elastomer (H-SSBR) prepared by polymerization of styrene and 1,3-butadiene monomers in an organic solvent wherein said cement comprises a polymerizate of said H-SSBR and said organic solvent and wherein said H-SSBR has a number average molecular weight in a range of from 200,000 to 1,000,000 grams/mole; and (B) providing 5 to 60 parts by weight of liquid styrene/1,3-butadiene polymer (LSBP) having a number average molecular weight in a range of from 1,000 to 50,000 grams/mole; and (C) recovering a composite comprising a blend of H-SSBR and LSBP by removing said organic solvent. Also, a respective rubber composition and a tire comprising such a rubber composition is disclosed.
