Use of a polysiloxane system, functionalized by at least one group having at least one function group consisting of a thiol function, a thioether function, a thiocarbonyl function, a sulfinyl function, a phosphine function, a phosphine oxide function, a phosphinate/phosphinic acid function, a phosphonate/phosphonic acid function and a phosphite function, to chemically stabilize a polymer matrix to increase its durability, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) a method for preparing a membrane comprising the polymer matrix and the functionalized polysiloxane system, comprising (a) contacting the polymer matrix or its precursor with a solution comprising at least one silane compound of formula ((R31)(R32)Si(Y1)(Y2)) (XV); and (2) the membrane prepared by the method. Y1, Y2 : hydrolyzable group comprising hydroxyl, halide, alkoxide, acetate, alkanoate, or acyloxide; R31 : non hydrolyzable groups, or functionalizing group; and R32 : non hydrolyzable groups.
