Method and device for vehicle access control

The method involves shooting a piece of skin of a person requesting an access to the motor vehicle by a built-in electronic camera in the motor vehicle (1). A temporal change of a characteristic of the piece of skin is determined. The temporal change of the characteristic of the piece of skin is compared with stored heartbeat interval-reference data of authorized person (9). The access to the motor vehicle is provided, if the temporal change of the characteristic of the skin piece agrees with the heartbeat interval-reference data in a predetermined degree. An independent claim is included for a device for identifying a person as a person authorized for guiding a motor vehicle.
