Lightweight wheel hub rolling bearing assembly and method of assembling the assembly

A hub bearing assembly includes a hub (30) of light metallic material forming a cylindrical portion (31) and a radially outward extending flange (32). A first inner tubular ring (24) having a raceway (25) and an inner cylindrical cavity (42) is mounted on the cylindrical portion (31) of the hub (30). A second inner ring (27) having a second raceway (26) is fixed on the first inner tubular ring (24). A cylindrical interstice (46) formed between the cylindrical portion (31) of the hub (30) and the cavity (42) of the first inner tubular ring (24) contains a bonding material to integrally join the cylindrical portion (31) of the hub (30) to the first inner tubular ring (24). The bonding material is a brazing material or a structural adhesive.
