A power receiving apparatus wirelessly receives power from a power transmitting apparatus , mutually performs device authentications with the power transmitting apparatus , and determines content related to power reception on the basis of a result of a performed device authentication. The apparatus is capable of performing control such that in response to success in an earlier performed device authentication among the authentications, another device authentication among the authentications is performed, and performing control such that in response to failure in the earlier performed device authentication, said another device authentication is not performed.
