A vehicle detection device of an embodiment is provided with a controller to detect a vehicle from a captured image of the vehicle. The controller extracts a plurality af line segment components indicating boundaries between a specific area of the vehicle and the vehicle body contained in the captured image. Further, the controller measures the position of the vehicle on the basis of coordinate information of the extracted line segment components and image capturing position information of the captured image.
