The present invention relates to an electrode of an electrochemical cell, comprising at least a fibrous active electrode material, wherein the fibers (34) of the active material are arranged to form a nonwoven or felt-like self-supporting structure (32). Moreover the invention relates to a respective electrochemical cell and to a method of making such an electrode.
