A mechanical actuator with a hydraulic damper device
DRIVE
May 28, 2014
The actuator has a hydraulic chamber (CH) filled with hydraulic fluid and arranged in an inner side by a floating piston (20). The chamber is in fluid flow communication with a storage unit (21) through a solenoid valve (22) that is controllable between a closed state in which the chamber is isolated from the storage unit, and a fluid-passing state in which the chamber and the storage unit are in communication. Calibrated resistance exerted against passage of fluid from the chamber toward the storage unit is obtained when movement of a hollow rod (2) enables reduction in volume of the chamber. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for utilizing an electromechanically operated actuator (2) a method for monitoring an electromechanically operated actuator.
