The seat (2) has a backrest (7) with a shell structure (12) provided with a cushion (13) at a passenger-side. The shell structure has recesses for retaining the cushion, which is thickened at one of the recesses. The shell structure has a central part and a side wing, which is arranged at the central part in a spring elastic manner. A slot is arranged between the central part and the side wing, where the slot has an upper area and the central part has a reinforcement unit.
