Achieving further fuel efficiency improvement of a vehicle when an engine operating point is controlled by adjusting a torque of an electric motor. Since a vehicle drive device 10 includes a brake Bs controlling a rotating operation of a stator impeller 16s to change a capacity coefficient Ä of a torque converter 16, a change can be made to a pump torque Tp uniquely determined based on the capacity coefficient Ä of the torque converter 16 at an operating point of an engine 12 arbitrarily controlled by adjusting a first electric motor torque T MG1 . Therefore, at the operating point of the engine 12 in this case, a proportion between a transmission rate RTO PMC of a mechanical path and a transmission rate RTO PEL of an electric path can be changed to increase a proportion of the power transmission through the path with a better transmission rate RTO PEL or RTO PMC out of the mechanical path and the electric path. Therefore, when the engine operating point is controlled by adjusting the first electric motor torque T MG1 , further fuel efficiency improvement of the vehicle can be achieved.
