The invention relates to an electrical steering column lock for an automotive vehicle capable of locking and unlocking the steering column comprising : - a bolt (3) intended to move for locking and for unlocking the steering column, - a cam wheel (5) intended to rotate according a first rotation axis and to cooperate with the bolt (3) for controlling the bolt movement, characterized in that it further comprises an assembly for determining the rotational position of the cam wheel (5) while the said cam wheel (5) is rotating.
