[Solution] The fuel cell device comprises: a fuel cell interconnected to a utility power supply and generating power using a fuel gas and an oxygen-containing gas; a plurality of auxiliaries used for the power generation of the fuel cell; a battery (B); an auxiliary power switch (57) for switching the power supplies to the respective auxiliaries from the battery (B); and a control device (7) for controlling the auxiliary power switch (57). When starting up the non-operating fuel cell device when the utility power supply is out, the control device (7) discriminates the auxiliaries into auxiliaries necessary for the start-up of the fuel cell and auxiliaries unnecessary for the start-up and controls the auxiliary power switch (57) so as to supply power from the battery (B) to the auxiliaries necessary for the start-up.",
