Source
The invention relates a solenoid linear actuator comprising a substantially tubular housing, comprising a first member made of a ferro-magnetic material and a second member made of a non-ferro magnetic material and a solenoid coil arranged around the housing, the coil surrounding at least part of the first member and at least part of the second member. A spring biased movable core body is provided, comprising a ferromagnetic material and substantially coaxially arranged at least partly inside the housing, which movable core body comprises a tapered outer end which protrudes into the housing when applying a current through the solenoid coil. With a suitable form of tapered outer end, substantially linear relation behaviour between the current through the coil and the position of the core is provided. This linear relation is advantageous in electrically controlled systems using a variable control current, such as electric valves or injectors.
