Method for displaying and operating functional groups and/or functions and a display and operating device

The method involves representing information on a rectangular display device for display or operation of functional groups. The graphic data are generated on the display device by a control device. A portion of the represented information are operating elements for selection of functional groups or functions. The operating elements are formed as push buttons (15,19). A portion of the push button is represented on the corners of the rectangular display device depending on the functional group represented or operated in an information- or functional field (12). An independent claim is included for a display- and operating device for a vehicle.
