Sensor Assemby with Protective Coating and Method of Applying Same

A sensor assembly 100 with a protective coating 108 and a method of applying the coating is disclosed. The sensor assembly 100 includes a sensor 102, a first conductive lead 104 extending from the sensor, a second conductive lead 106 extending from the sensor, and a protective coating 108 encapsulating the sensor 102 and portions of the first conductive lead and the second conductive lead proximate to the sensor, wherein the protective coating comprises a fluoroelastomeric polymer. The coating is applied by immersing the sensor assembly into a cooled fluoroelastomeric polymer and then withdrawing the sensor assembly.
