Electrode material comprises (a) a metal compound (I), and (b) an electronically conductive material. Electrode material comprises (a) a metal compound of formula (A nMq zT xQ ymROH) (I), and (b) an electronically conductive material. The compound is present in a crystal structure with diamond topology. A : alkali metal; M : ion of transition metal element; T : tetrelide; Q : chalcogen; ROH : crystallized solvent, where R is H, CH 3 or C 2H 5; n : 2y-4x-zq; z : 0 or 1 or greater than 1; x : 2y-2zq-n; y : n+zq+4x; m : 0, 1 or greater than 1; q : 1-5, where A, T, Q and optionally M are present in lattice, cubic or hexagonal diamond structure and provided that m is not equal to 0, the focal points of complex anions [T xQ y]nz- and/or [M zT xQ z]n- are present in lattice, cubic or hexagonal diamond structure. An independent claim is included for use of metal compound for managing and/or storing alkali metal cations.
