In a negative electrode for a secondary battery including a negative electrode active material, a binder, and a water-soluble polymer, a copolymer containing 15 wt% to 50 wt% of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer unit, 30 wt% to 70 wt% of a (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer unit, and 0.5 wt% to 10 wt% of a fluorine-containing (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer unit is used as the water-soluble polymer.
