During a vehicle accident, the airbag cushion extends out of the housing to cushion movement of a vehicle occupant. The airbag cushion includes a main panel having a first edge and a second edge, a first side panel coupled to the first edge, and a second side panel coupled to the second edge. The first side panel and the second side panel comprise protrusions and a channel is defined by a portion of the main panel between the protrusions.
