A computing unit is used, based on the sensor data, to determine a speed vector of a road user in the environment and to predict a potential collision of the road user with the transportation vehicle. Based on the speed vector, it is identified that the road user is moving substantially transverse to a direction of movement of the transportation vehicle and a target speed for the transportation vehicle is computed to avoid the predicted collision. The speed of the transportation vehicle is reduced automatically to the target speed.",
