Methods and systems for dual motor transmission system comprising an intermediate shaft oriented parallel to both of and a first shaft comprising a first gear mesh, a third gear mesh, and a first low friction engaging device located between the first gear mesh and the third gear mesh and a second shaft comprising a second gear mesh, a fourth gear mesh, and a second low friction engaging device located between the second gear mesh and the fourth gear mesh, a first electric motor coupled to the first shaft to enable a first reduction ratio and second reduction ratio of the first electric motor between the first shaft and the intermediate shaft; and a second electric motor coupled to the second shaft to enable a first reduction ratio and second reduction ratio of the second electric motor between the second shaft and the intermediate shaft.
